We are grateful for the incredible interest shown in the Leader-Call from subscribers of other media in Jones County. When The Chronicle shuttered its doors at the end of June, the leadership at the LL-C decided to honor former Chronicle subscribers’ subscriptions.

The change in the media landscape has included many in-house adjustments, including integrating The Chronicle’s subscription list into our list of subscribers. The undertaking has been arduous but is being worked on every day. In the next weeks, both lists will become one list and former Chronicle subscribers will begin to receive the LL-C.

We thank everyone for calling about their subscriptions — and we don’t blame you for being excited about receiving the Leader-Call. In addition to hard-hitting, unafraid news, the LL-C is about to publish its annual football edition, which is set for release on Aug. 17.

Subscribers also will get weekly coupons, a twice-yearly Medical Update and many other special publications. In addition, the LL-C features an entirely locally produced newspaper. The majority of the columnists live or are from the Laurel area and their viewpoints vary widely.

Our formula of eye-catching headlines, engaging stories that move our readers’ emotions and an unafraid search for truth and justice will continue. We will not waiver.

So, please, fellow Jones Countians who have been calling and asking about their new LL-C subscriptions: It takes time, but we are almost there.

But if you just cannot wait to get your hands on a copy, the LL-C is distributed in racks and through vendors throughout Jones and surrounding counties.

While you are at it, reserve your copy of “A Taste of Home Town” now. The 250-page full-color glossy cookbook will be the talk of the town. Recipes from Jones County’s most well-known people — including the likes of Lance Bass, Ralph Boston, Parker Posey and much more — will be featured. The recipes range from Bass’ strawberry salad to seafood and desserts. It’s certainly a product worthy of turning heads.

There is much to be excited about at the Leader-Call. We are glad all you folks are along for the ride. Those about to grab a seat, just be patient — and hold on. You are about to experience a kind of journalism that forces you to take a look.
