An argument over drugs led to a gunfire in Hebron and one man being taken to the hospital and another being taken to jail on Sunday, according to a press release from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department.
Charles D. Keys, 42, of Taylorsvlle was charged with aggravated assault and two more felonies after he “blindly returned fire” and shot an unidentified man in the face, JCSD investigators said.

When Keys was questioned, he said he drove up to the victim’s home and heard gunfire, then admitted that he and the victim had been in an argument over drugs. When he went to the man’s residence to confront him, be believed he was being fired at, so he returned fire, according to the press release.
It was later learned that Keys is a convicted felon and the gun he used had been reported stolen.
He was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and receiving stolen property.
