JCJC’s Durn, Quave earn state soccer honors

Two Jones County Junior College soccer players have received state honors.

Aimee Durn (Watford, England) has been selected the MACJC Women’s Offensive Player of the Week and Koby Quave (Long Beach) was picked as the MACJC Goalkeeper of the Week.

Durn, a freshman forward, had four goals and one assist as No. 19 JCJC beat Meridian, 8-1. She also had an assist in JCJC’s 7-1 victory over Southwest. Quave, also a freshman, played all 90 minutes, had five saves and recorded a shutout as the Bobcats downed Meridian, 3-0.

Both JCJC teams return to action at home on Friday for important South Division matches vs. Pearl River. The women’s game starts at 5 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7 p.m. The Lady Bobcats will also play No. 10 Navarro College (Texas) at 4 p.m. Saturday at Bobcat Soccer Field.
