James Brazil Johnson, 70, of Laurel died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at Comfort Care Nursing Home in Laurel. He was born Monday, Dec. 9, 1946 in Richton.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel. The funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Sharon Cemetery in Laurel. Dr. Bobby Stults will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his father Austin Johnson; mother Ila Mills Johnson; sister Paulene Carrell; and brother Thomas Johnson.
Survivors include his wife Betty Johnson of Laurel; son Tracy Johnson (Milissa) of Kentwood, La.; daughter Nita Carley (Daniel) of Laurel; grandchildren Logan and Brady Johnson and Donavan and Matthew Carley; sister Thelma Hinson of Hohenwald, Tenn.; sisters Cora Bunnell (Charles) and Joann James (Mitchell), all of Ovett, and Doris Guined (Gene) of Laurel; special aunt Bessie Johnson of Laurel; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brady Johnson, Donavan Carley, Jeff Guined, Frank Bunnell, Steve Bunnell and Calvin Arender.
Honorary pallbearers will be Clark Green, Chris Arender, Bill Carrell, Jesse James, Paul Johnson, Chad Guined and Chris Carrell.
