James Edward Strickland, who most people called “Eddie” or “Hank,” was born in Jones County on Feb. 5, 1948. He passed away at Forrest General Hospital on Jan. 5, 2018.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. at Memory Chapel on Sunday. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Memory Chapel. Burial will be at Mack Brown Cemetery.
Mr. Strickland attended Moselle and South Jones schools. He was a member of Oakland Grove Baptist Church. He was a truck driver for Doggett Trucking for 25 years and also worked for Walter’s Construction.
He was preceded in death by his parents Cranford and Alene Strickland (Walters); brothers Danny, Jerry and Mike Strickland; and his son Jamie Lott.
He is survived by his wife Gladys Strickland; sons Ricky Strickland (Angela), Dan Strickland, James Strickland (Janie) and Joey Bates. He’s also survived by sisters Doris Welborn (Jimmy) and Ramona Walters (Curtis); granddaughters Sarah Windham (Tyler) and Katie Strickland; grandsons Zach Strickland and Charlee Strickland; four beautiful great-granddaughters; and a host of nieces and nephews.
