John “JP” Palma Carpenter Jr., 89, of Ellisville died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018 in Ellisville. He was born Thursday, Jan. 31, 1929 in Hattiesburg.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Friday at the Ellisville Funeral Home in Ellisville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ellisville Funeral Home and the burial will follow in Ellisville City Cemetery. Brother Julian Davis will officiate.
JP resided in Ellisville since 1970. He was a Baptist. He was a licensed termite and pest control operator in the State of Mississippi for 49 years. He was known for his love of family, helping others, his giving to charity, reading his Bible every day, and his humor and telling of stories. He was a member of the American Legion and the Mississippi Pest Control Association.
He was preceded in death by wife Voncile Carpenter; father John Carpenter Sr.; mother Carman Carpenter; son Joel Carpenter; sister Alma-Lee Havard; and granddaughter Jewel Carpenter.
Survivors include son Michael Carpenter (Deborah); brother Marvin Carpenter (Lucy); sister Joan King; grandsons Michael “Blaine” Carpenter II (Kala), John Carpenter (Bonnie), Joel P. Carpenter II (Andrea) and John “Billy” Carpenter (Andrea); granddaughter Linn Carpenter; great-granddaughter Emma-Grace Carpenter; great-grandsons Cooper Carpenter, Breeze Carpenter, Camp Carpenter, Ranger Carpenter and Jackson Carpenter; great-granddaughters Daisy Carpenter and Ruby Carpenter; a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be John R. Carpenter, Joel P. Carpenter II, Michael “Blaine” Carpenter II, John “BiIly” Carpenter, Kenny Ford and Steve Havard.
