Kay Ulmer Gainey was born on May 10, 1945, and left this earth for Heaven’s Glory on Oct. 4, 2017, at the age of 72 following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church of Sharon at 11 a.m. Saturday with burial in Sharon Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 5-8 p.m.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ras and Bobbie Ulmer; sister Judy McGlothlin; and brother James Ulmer.
Mrs. Gainey was retired from West Quality Foods. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Sharon, where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the choir, Ladies Ensemble and Trio. She spent her life serving God with her husband in various churches in Mississippi.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt and was loved by all who knew her. To know her was to love her. Her humble spirit was a blessing to all.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years Jerry; her sons Cary Glen (Elizabeth), David (Lisa) and Stephen (Mary); her grandchildren Brittany, John David, Josh, Caleb, Shannon, Tara and Mia; and great-granddaughter Zayla. She is also survived by two brothers, Ken Ulmer (Shirley) and Roger Ulmer (Carol); sister Becky Brewer (Johnny); and a host of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
