Lorene LaPan, 72, of Laurel was born Nov. 10, 1945 and passed away on May 11, 2018 at South Central Medical Center in Laurel. She was born at home in Bacon Creek, Ky., and was raised in Corbin, Ky.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at Memory Chapel with Rosary following. Funeral mass and service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception. Father Mike Thornton will officiate.
Lorene, known as “Gramma” and “Gramma Great,” was loved and blessed by many. She was a homemaker and loved to cook for her family. She was a member of Immaculate Conception and sang in their choir.
She was preceded in death by her parents Sudie and John Harris; her son Jerry LaPan II; her brothers John Harris Jr., Charlie Harris, Willie Harris and Luther Harris; and her sisters Mae Harris Inman and Helen Harris Rose.
She is survived by her husband Jerry LaPan; daughter Laura Jensen (Dennis); sons David LaPan, Mark LaPan (Sheila), David Benge (Heather) and John LaPan (Jennifer); sister Ruth Harris Ballew (Jerry); brother-in-law Elmer Rose; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces Cheryl Worley and Lisa Siler; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Josh Jensen, Jeremy Jensen, Justin Jensen, Joshua Mowbray, Jacob Livingston and Tommy Elias.
