Mary Alice Hill Myrick, 84, passed from this life at her home on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be at Big Creek Baptist Church on Saturday. Visitation will be at the church starting at 1 p.m. with the service to follow at 3 p.m. Rev. Rich Gray and Rev. Justin Rhodes will officiate.
Mary Alice was born at home on July 4, 1933, to Bura and Rosa Loftin Hill, in the same house where her youngest daughter now lives. She and her husband L.O. owned and operated Western Auto in Soso for many years. After closing the store, she was the office manager for Soso Community Water until her unwilling retirement in 2010. She was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bura and Rose Hill; an infant brother; grandson Jason Helton; and great-grandson Lake Gray.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years L. O. Myrick; three daughters, Linda Helton, Rosemary Hill (Nelson) and Donna Brooks (B.L.), and one son, Bill (Connie), all of Laurel. She is also survived by six grandsons, Michael Helton (Adriane), Robby Gray (Amber), Randy Gray (Megan), Richey Gray (Leah), Russell Gray and Heath Hulon, all of Laurel; two step-grandsons, Michael Corey and Danny Corey; and two granddaughters, Laura Jones of Ellisville and Jodie Welborn (Michael) of Laurel; three great-grandchildren, with another expected in December; and a special son-in-law, Joe Hulon.
Pallbearers will be Michael Helton, Robby Gray, Randy Gray, Russell Gray, Heath Hulon and Michael Welch. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family would like to give special thanks to special neighbors Frances Dykes, Becky Hill, Freida Merchant and Etta Fay Hill, for the kindness they showed to our mother during her last years.
