Plez Henry Atwood Jr., 78, of Taylorsville died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel. He was born Thursday, Aug. 18, 1938, in Taylorsville.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Walnut Grove Baptist Cemetery in Sylvarena. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Baptist Cemetery. Brother Steven Keen and
Brother. Herbert Nettleton will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of the arrangements.
Plez Jr. enjoyed coon hunting, rabbit hunting, deer hunting with his boys and friends. He also loved his dogs and mules.
He was preceded in death by his father Plez Henry Atwood Sr.; mother Virgie Rebecca Atwood; grandchild Katrina Toole; great-grandchild Logan McCord; sisters Bonnie Shaw Blackwell, Onnie Blakeney, Addie Walters, Etolie Tallman, Salma Smith, Nettie Sartor, Emma
Atwood and Mavis Warren; and brothers Grover Atwood, Jimmy Ray Atwood, Talmage McWilliams and Felbert Atwood,
Survivors include his wife of 57 years Winnie Jewel Atwood of Taylorsville; daughters Cindy L. Young (Gene) and Adinah Jo Johnson (Phil), all of Raleigh; sons Brian Henry Atwood, Kerry Dewayne Atwood (Connie) and Clay Atwood (Diane), all of Taylorsville; 21 grandchildren; and 20
Pallbearers will be Conner Atwood, Cade Atwood, Phillip Holifield, Lance Holifield, Neal Smith, Brett Johnson, Brice Johnson, Thomas Harrison, Charlie Harrison and Vince McCord.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Lee Atwood and Ethan Atwood.
