Randy Joseph Roberts, 56, of Laurel, born Oct. 1, 1960, passed away on July 11, 2017, at his residence.
Mr. Roberts worked for Rapad Drilling and Well Services, Inc. He had worked in the oilfield for 38 years. He was a very loving and outgoing man. His passion was the Dixie National Ride with the Smith County Wagon Train. He loved his mules Leroy and Lulu, and his horse Hunter.
He was preceded in death by his father Patrick Roberts; mother Linda Credeur; grandparents Percy and Denneige Roberts, Augustine Kiechrist, and John Credeur; stepmother Francis Roberts Jordan; and stepfather Lloyd Brasseaux Sr.
Survivors include his son Kyle Roberts of Louisiana; daughter Kimberly Upton (Craig) of Laurel; godchild Kami Roberts; brothers Hobbie Roberts of Louisiana, Pete Lofton of Sandersville and Jay Reeves of Brandon; sisters Roxanne Shaw (Darwin), Bridget Bernard, Samantha Spillman and Tina Savoie (Curtis Sr.), all of Louisiana, and Janie Scherman (Snake) of Laurel; grandchild Catherine Ethel Miranda; step-grandchildren Kaylee and Ryan Upton; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held at Memory Chapel in Laurel from 3-10 p.m., on Friday. The funeral will be at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, La., at 1 p.m. Saturday. Interment will be at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2.
Scriptures will be read by Kami Roberts. Gift-bearers will be April Shaw, Michelle Bernard, Shannon Spillman and Brooke Savoie.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Roberts, Hobbie Roberts, Curtis Savoie Sr., Bo Red Smith, Robert Smith and Jimmy Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Curt Savoie Jr., Brock Savoie, Allen Monk, Bobby Joe Mozingo, Pete Lofton, Darwin Shaw, Joey Savoie, Joey Williams, Bill Flynt, Eddie Coleman, Todd Denais, Ernie Robertson, Chris Avera, Nathan Myrick and his trail ride family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Smith County Wagon Train Benefit Fund at Trustmark Bank.
